Too busy and have no time to renew your driving license? Too lazy to go to post office? Don't worry, I will educate you on how you can renew your driving license online. No need to queue, no need to be trapped in the traffic jam, no need to CRY.

Below are steps to renew your driving license online thru myeg:

1. Go to myEG's website at http://www.myeg.my/
2. Log in using your Username & Password
3. Click Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ)'s dashboard (refer Picture 1)
4. Select Driving License Renewal (refer Picture 2)
5. Fill in all required information (refer Picture 3) - including delivery term
6. Make payment thru myEG prepaid Account or credit card or Financial Process Exchange (refer Picture 4)
7. Wait for the delivery of the new driving license

On 30th April 2012, I was trying to contact AirAsia call centre via AirAsia general phone number (+603 2171 9333) just to found out that the general phone line has no longer active. That means I can no longer talk live to AirAsia agents as before. I can only use AirAsia Premium Customer Service Line (600 85 9999) with condition that I am the AirAsia X Guests. That doesn't sound like a good news to me because I am only the ordinary member. Furthermore, the charge is RM 1.95 per minute which I think is too expensive for me just to ask few question to AirAsia personnel.

I got very upset about it because all I just seeking for small help to change the passenger's gender which was wrongly registered when I bought the flight ticket earlier. Without wasting more time, I dialed the Premium Customer Service Line and I managed to talk to AirAsia personnel. But, they still not able to help solving my problem because they must start educating customer to use their new support system. Therefore, the personnel have introduced AirAsia Live Chat, their new way of managing customers' query.

Using the AirAsia Live Chat, I was able to chat with friendly AirAsia live agent, Lakshmi. With some verification done and after I shared my problem with her, Lakshmi was able to resolved my issue. I am very satisfied with the service and the ability to give prompt response by AirAsia personnel. The flow information thru chat room also were very smooth. Thus, I would recommend others to use the service. Good job to AirAsia......

Data Storage Evolution

An IBM Model 350 Disk File - 5 MB (1956)

The beauty of Information System & Technology era is the ability of transferring and sharing data and information. Over the years, people have tried to transfer information from one computer or electronic devices to another in many ways. Unlike 10-20 years ago, nowadays we are used to have hundreds of gigabytes of storage capacity in our computers or electronic devices. Even the small MP3 players and thumb-drive have several gigabytes of storage. This was pure science fiction few decades ago.

The first hard disk drive was introduced by IBM in 1956. It was called the IBM Model 350 Disk File and was a huge device (refer above photo). It had 50 24-inch disks contained inside a cabinet that was as large as a cupboard. This hulk of a storage unit could store a whopping 5 MB of data. One interesting fact, although hard disk drives kept improving, state-of-the art disks were built according to the concept “bigger is better”. Hard disk drives were normally used together with big mainframe computers, so this was not such a big deal. Entire rooms were already set aside for the computers.

3.5" Floppy Disk - 1.44 MB (1982-present)

In 1982, world has been introduced with Sony's 3.5-inch floppy that won the approval of the Micro-floppy Industry Committee. A hard plastic shell has allow users to carry disk easily, and a sliding metal cover protected the magnetic media from debris. Miraculously, the 3.5-inch physical factor has extended the floppy's lifespan until now, and only recently it has become common to find new PCs without the 3.5-inch drive bay.

Small, portable USB-powered hard drives are common today; they hold lots of data and get cheaper every year.

How to Block Sites Using Internet Explorer

• Go to "Tools" in the Internet Explorer window. Scroll down to "Internet Options." Click it and then click the "Contents" tab in the window that opens.
• Look at the "Content Advisor" section. Click "Enable." Then, go to the "Approved Sites" tab.
• Under "Allow this Web Site" type "*.name of blocked website". Again, exclude the "http://www." portion. The asterisk tells Windows Explorer that the site is to be blocked and not allowed. Click "Never" when finished and "Apply" at the bottom of the page.
• Go to the "General" tab once you've entered all of the sites to be blocked. Beside the words, "Users can see sites that have no rating," click to put a check in the box. Do the same to the box "Supervisor can type a password to allow users to view restricted content."
• Scroll down to "Supervisor Password." Click "Change Password" and set your new password. Also, add a hint to help you later if you forget. Click "Apply" at the bottom of the page. Click "OK" to return to Internet Explorer.
